TMCP Steel
Thermo-mechanically controlled processed steel uses controlled rolling and accelerated cooling to obtain fine grain size, high strength and toughness with relatively low carbon equivalent.
Material and manufacturing basis
Chemistry commonly uses low carbon with Nb, V, Ti and other microalloying additions; process route is as important as composition.
Common standards and grades
EN structural TMCP delivery conditions use M/ML designations; offshore, shipbuilding and line-pipe standards also use TMCP grades.
Typical applications
Offshore structures, bridges, shipbuilding, line pipe, heavy structures and high-strength plate applications.
Engineering and procurement checks
Good weldability is a key advantage, but heat-input limits, HAZ toughness and project-specific weld procedure qualification still apply.
Manufacturer selection
Source from a mill or qualified stockist able to supply the exact standard, grade, dimensions, delivery condition and certification required. Confirm manufacturer approval status, heat traceability, test certificates, marking and any project-specific third-party inspection.
Element Folio engineering reference. Always verify the latest governing standard, project specification and manufacturer data before procurement or design.
