Aluminum 6063
Aluminum 6063 is a highly extrudable Al-Mg-Si alloy prized for surface finish, corrosion resistance and anodizing response.
Alloy basis
Its strength is moderate compared with 6061, but extrusion quality and architectural finish are excellent.
Typical applications
Window and door frames, curtain walls, railings, heat sinks, architectural extrusions and decorative profiles.
Common tempers / conditions
Common tempers include T5 and T6.
Engineering selection notes
Confirm the exact alloy designation, temper, product form, thickness/diameter, mechanical properties, corrosion environment, joining process, surface treatment and certification. Properties can vary substantially by temper and product form.
QA/QC
For critical service, verify heat/lot traceability, mill certificate, chemical composition, tensile properties, temper, dimensional tolerances and any required NDT or third-party inspection.
Element Folio engineering reference. Verify the latest governing standard and producer data before design or procurement.
